We talk a lot about the importance of voting in primary and general elections, but do you know the importance of caucus night? In large part, what happens at caucus determines who will be on our primary and general ballots. This is because at the caucus we choose our state and county delegates. Those delegates go to the state and county conventions and vote on which candidates will be on the ballots.
This year, three Republicans have filed to run for house district 41. If one of those candidate get’s 60% of the delegate vote, he is the only one to move forward from convention. Otherwise the top two candidates move forward to a primary. If a candidate gathers enough signatures, they can also be on the primary ballot regardless of how they did at the convention. I have decided not to gather signatures, but to rely solely on the county delegates. I need you to attend the caucus meeting and run for county delegate, or vote for someone you trust to be county delegate, so I can advance to the primary and then the general election.
The Caucus meetings for all precincts ub district 41 will be held at Brighton High School on Tuesday March 17. The meeting starts at 7pm, but check in starts at 6. You can pre-register and find out more information about caucuses here.
